When you walk a dog, you consider walking not as an exercise regimen but as an enjoyable activity. You will also feel enthused by the cheerful greeting you get from your dog when you approach it with a leash in your hand. Walking a dog becomes a routine and even an addiction. People who have owned a log for sometime but have to be without a dog for some reason will miss their routine.
Chances are that they will set out to walk even with no dog they have, to take along!
Taking your dog out everyday becomes a regular activity which you will perform without fail at a specific time. Compare this with your experience of planning an exercise regime. You will be inclined to find excuses for missing it. Even people who go for walking are sometimes likely to give this activity a miss felling tired physically or mentally or feeling bored. But with a dog, you never miss the walking. Factors like poor health or unfavorable weather conditions may not deter you.
Walking a dog also makes you socially more active since you get more opportunities to interact with your neighbors and others who walk a dog or walk alone. Thus, walking a dog also helps you improve your social activities and hence your relationship with the community you are part of.
If you are a dog owner, encourage others to own a dog so that they will get the exercise needed. If you are not a dog owner, you can think of breeding a dog at least in the interest of your getting a good exercise though there are also other benefits of owning a dog. If you don't want to breed a dog, you can take the cue from those who own a dog and begin to walk regularly. To ensure that you won't miss your daily walking, make it a point to join a dog owning neighbor when he or she walks the dog. You will not only ensure that you won't miss your walking but also give your neighbor good company and you will also be improving your relationship with your neighbor in the process!
Walking your dog will enable you to get the exercise you need and improve your health.
